# Image with text

The **Image with text** section combines a feature image with a marketing call to action block. With a flexible layout and optional button, it's a great way to introduce a product collection or something new and exciting.

## Set up section

Add this section to any template (except Checkout) and use the drag-and-drop handles to re-order its position. You can add this section multiple times with different content and settings.

Editing a template changes all pages that use that template. In your theme editor (**Customize**):

1. Select a **Template** to edit from the dropdown menu in the top bar.

2. Under **Template**, click **(+) Add section** and select **Image with text**.
3. Click and hold the drag-and-drop handles **`⋮⋮`** to re-order your sections.

## Add feature image

Upload a feature image to display on the left or right of the marketing text block. You can adjust the width, shape, and focal point of your image.

In your theme editor (**Customize**):

1. Click on the **Image with text** section to open the section settings.

2. Under **Section Content**, click **Select image** to upload and select an image file.

   > There are no required images dimensions. We simply recommend uploaded images have a minimum width of **`2500px`** for optimal quality across all devices.

   > See our article for image recommendations for Lorenza to learn more.
3. (*Optional*.) Use the **Section style** dropdown at the top to use **Contrast** colors or set your image to **Full-height**.

   > The **Contrast** style uses the contrast colors in your **Theme Settings**.
4. Choose whether to **Enable animation** to show visual effects when scrolling, hovering, or interacting with the section.
5. Choose to set the **Image width** to either *1/2* or *2/3* of the section.

6. Select an **Image aspect ratio** to crop your image to **Square**, **Landscape**, or **Portrait**.

   > The default **Natural** setting will display the original orientation of your image.

7. Select the **Media focal point** to choose which portion of the image to keep centered within the image block.

   > Use the focal point to make sure the key part of your image remains visible when cropping occurs.
8. Select the **Media position** to display the image on the **Left** or **Right** side of the section.

   > The text content will display on the opposite side of the image.
9. Click **Save**.

## Add autoplay video

Instead of a feature image, add a muted autoplay video that loops continuously. You need to upload a .mp4 video to your Shopify admin and copy the link into your theme editor settings.

| File Format | .mp4 video (required)        |
| ----------- | ---------------------------- |
| File size   | Maximum 10MB (recommended)   |
| Duration    | 5 - 10 seconds (recommended) |

In your **Shopify admin**:

1. Go to **Content > Files** to open your [Shopify files](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-admin/productivity-tools/file-uploads).

2. Click the **Upload files** button to add your **`.mp4`** file from your computer.
3. Once your file has been processed, click the **Link icon** next to the file to copy the *URL*.

   > You may need to refresh the page for your file to appear.

In the theme editor (**Customize**):

1. Paste the link into the **Video link** field. Click on the the link that appears in the results above.

## Section headings and style

This section has blocks for three text headings. You can customize the alignment, color, and overall look of your text.

In your theme editor (**Customize**):

1. Click on the **Text** blocks to change the **Small heading**, **Heading**, and **Subheading**.

2. Click on the **Image with text** section to open the section settings.
3. Change the **Text alignment** to **Left**, **Center**, or **Right**.
4. Change the **Text color** to make sure the headings are readable against the background color.
5. Select a **Text container color** to display your headings in a solid box container. By default, the color is set to transparent.

6. Use the **Max width of text** slider to control the maximum width of the headings.

   > Use this setting to create a clean visual shape for your text and avoid unwanted line breaks.
7. Click **Save**.

## Add call-to-action button

You can link to you collections or products or any other page with a custom call-to-action button.

In your theme editor (**Customize**):

1. Click **(+) Add block** and select **Button**, then click the new button block.

2. Select or paste a URL for the **Link**.
3. Change the **Link text** to display on the button.

   > The most effective button labels ask customers to do something (e.g. Get started, Join us, Shop now). To learn more, [read "What is a Call to Action?"](https://www.thebalancesmb.com/call-to-action-1794380)
4. Click **Save**.

## Settings reference

Click on the section to find the following image settings:

| Setting            | Description                                                                                                                                         |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Style              | Use the Default or Contrast section style. The Contrast style uses the contrast colors in your Theme Settings.                                      |
| Image              | There are no required images dimensions. We simply recommend uploaded images have a minimum width of 2050px for optimal quality across all devices. |
| Media width        | Set your image to span either 2/3 or 1/2 of the section width.                                                                                      |
| Image aspect ratio | Crop the shape of your image to Square, Landscape, or Portrait. Choose Natural to display the original image shape.                                 |
| Image focal point  | Select the area of the uploaded image that will always appear centered within the image block to avoid cropping.                                    |
| Media position     | Display the image either on the Left or Right side of the section. The text blocks will display on the opposite side.                               |

Click the section to find the following video settings:

| Video URL      | The direct URL of your MP4 file uploaded to Shopify Files.                                                                          |
| Media width    | Set your video to span either 2/3 or 1/2 of the section width.                                                                      |
| Media position | <p>Display the video either on the Left or Right side of the section.<br><br>The text blocks will display on the opposite side.</p> |

Click the **text block** to find the following settings.

| Small heading        | Add mini heading text above the heading. | Subheading           | Enter subheading text to display below the heading. Use the formatting buttons to add text styles, links, or lists. | Text alignment       | Change the alignment of the text to either Left, Center, or Right aligned.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              |

| Text color           | Choose the color of the headings and text.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              |
