Video

With the Video section, you can feature a video on your home page. You can preface your video with a hi-def thumbnail and custom marketing text.

This section accepts video links from YouTube and Vimeo.

Set up a video section on your home page

To set up a video section:

1. From your theme’s “Customize” screen, choose Home page from the pages drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

   

2. Scroll down the list of home page settings until you see the Add section button.

   

3. Choose the Style for the section, either Default or Contrast.

   If you select Contrast, this section uses Lorenza’s contrast colors.

4. Add a Small heading, Heading, Subheading, Link text and Link.

   All of these elements are displayed above the video section, if enabled.

5. Choose a Heading alignment. Either Left or Center.

   This changes the appearance of all of the heading text and button content.

6. Tweak the Max width of text, between 16 and 50.

   The text max width lets you control the shape of the text, and make it look good no matter how long your collection descriptions are.

7. Add a Video URL. This should be a full URL to a video on YouTube or Vimeo.

   The URL should look something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHhf76z6BkM.

8. Add a Featured image to used as a preview for the video.

   We recommend using a still image from the video.

   

9. Tweak the Overlay opacity.

   The overlay is a colored filter that is layered on top of your video and image. The opacity can be between 0% and 100%, where 0% is invisible and 100% is completely opaque.

10. Choose the Overlay color.

11. Use the Back to settings (<) button to go back to all of the home page settings again. Use the drag handles to rearrange the order of your home page sections:

    

12. Use the Save button in the top-right corner when you are finished editing.

Settings

The video section has the following settings:

Style

Choose a section style, either Default or Contrast. This affects the colors of the current section.

Small heading

Change the small heading text displayed above the main heading.

Heading

Add heading text to be used.

We recommend keeping this to just a few words long.

Text

Add subheading text to be displayed below the heading text.

We recommend keeping this to a short sentence or two.

Link text

Change the text for a link in the header.

Link

Change the link for the link text for the section. If you’re adding an external link, you need to type (or copy and paste) the full URL, starting with https://. For example: https://example.com/abc123.

Max width of text

Using the slider, choose how wide the heading text should appear, at a maximum.

Video URL

Add the full URL to the video.

This setting takes YouTube and Vimeo video URLs.

Featured image

Select or upload an image to be used as the video preview.

We recommend using a still image from the video.

You can change the style in the following ways:

Overlay opacity

Use the slider to choose how opaque the overlay color should be. Where 0% is invisible and 100% is completely opaque.

Overlay color

Pick the color of the overlay.
