Variant swatches

Theme retirement | Context is no longer available on the Shopify theme store. Theme support and updates for current users will end after May 18, 2024. Learn more here.

Find a color you want to use on this list of 140 default web colors, then enter that exact color name as the Option value for a product variant in your Shopify admin.

Note | These default color names will appear on your product pages and in the cart. In order to choose your own product variant name or different color, you will need to use custom swatch images.

STEPS

In your Shopify admin:

  1. Go to your Products to click the product you want to edit.

  2. Under Variants, click Add options like size and color checkbox if you're adding variants for the first time.

  3. Add the Option name (e.g. "Color" or "Material").

Remember to add this option name in your Theme settings to enable swatches.

See Shopify's Variants guide for more information about product options.

  4. Enter the exact name of a default color in the Option values field for your variant.

If your store uses multiple languages, you will need to use custom colors or images.

  5. Click Done.

  6. Click Save.
