The Subcollections template lets you showcase and let customers shop multiple collections on a single collection page.

This guide explains how to set up the subcollections template using theme sections, with recommendations to get you started.

Quick setup

You can customize the Subcollections template in the theme editor. All other product template features can be set up by following our collections template guide.

When your template is ready, you can assign the template in the Shopify admin to make it live.

Edit sale collection template

The Subcollections template includes preset sections designed to showcase multiple collections within a category of products.

We recommend first editing the preset sections and hiding any sections you won't use. Then, you can add other theme sections to further customize your page.

STEPS

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Use the Templates selector to open Collections > subcollections.

  2. Under "PREVIEW", click Change and select the page you want to use for the collection sale template.

A warning symbol (!) next to the page name means that the template is not assigned. Click the page name to go to your Shopify admin, and assign the template.

  3. Edit preset theme sections to add custom page content and styles.

Use the Image hero to add a featured image and promo text.

Use the Multi-column to link to a collection page that includes products from all subcollections.

Use the Feature collection grid sections display products from your subcollections.

Use the Image with text sections to add promotional text and images.

Click the Hide icon or Remove section button to hide or delete preset sections.

  4. Under Template, click (+) Add section to further customize your page with theme sections.

Click and hold the drag and drop handles ⋮⋮ to change the order of sections.

  5. Click Save.

Remember to assign the template and set your page to Visible in your admin.

  6. (Recommended.) Add a link to your collection landing in the Header navigation or in a theme section featured on your home page.
