Announcement bar

Header

The Announcement bar displays rotating announcements at the top of every page. Let customers know about current promotions, new products, or other need-to-know updates with links to more info.

  • Add up to 3 announcement messages

  • Change time between announcements

  • Make announcment bar "sticky" on pages

Add announcements

Add up to 3 announcements with optional links and custom colors. For multiple announcements, you can set the time between announcements when rotating.

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Click the arrow beside the Announcement bar section to reveal the announcement blocks.

  2. Click (+) Add announcement to add up to 3 announcements.

    Click Remove block in the block settings to delete an announcement.

  3. Click on an Announcement block to open the settings.

  4. Enter your Announcement text as a message to your customers.

    We recommend entering no more than 10 words.

  5. (Optional.) Click the Announcement Link field to select a page from your online store or enter a URL to direct customers to another page.

  6. (Optional.) Change the Background color and Text color of the announcement.

    We recommend using WebAIM's contrast checkerarrow-up-right when matching colors to make sure your text is clear and readable for everyone.

  7. Click Save.

Set time between announcements

By default, multiple announcements rotate every 5 seconds. You can choose to display each message between 3 to 15 seconds. Announcements with more words may need more time for customers to read them.

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Click the Announcement bar section to open the section settings.

  2. Move the slider to set the time between announcements from 3 to 15 seconds.

    Announcements will pause when customers hover over the announcement bar.

  3. Click Save.

Sticky announcement bar

Choose to make the announcement bar "sticky" and remain visible at the top of the page as visitors scroll down. This setting applies only when the Enable sticky header option in the Header settings is selected.

In your theme editor (Customize):

  1. Click the Header section to make sure the Enable sticky header option is selected.

  2. Click the Announcement bar section to open the settings.

  3. Select an Enable sticky annoucement bar option.

    Choose to make the announcement bar sticky on Desktop, Mobile, Both, or Never.

  4. Click Save.

Click on the Announcement blocks to find the following settings:

Announcement text

Enter a short sentence as a storewide message. We recommend between 4 and 8 words.

Announcement link

Select a page to direct customers to when they click the announcement text.

Enable sticky announcement bar

Choose to fix the Announcement bar to the top of the screen or window so it remains visible when visitors scroll down the page. This option applies only when the sticky header is enabled.
